Networking, Ready for Your Next Chapter…

So…What’s Next?

Mmmmm, networking, networking, networking…

You’ve just graduated from high school…entering college.  Beginning another chapter…

Moreover, you’ve been thinking about what’s next for quite a while.  So many decisions, so many choices.

Self EsteemYou either know what you want to do with your life or you’re still trying to figure that out.

And who’s on your networking list?

You probably already have one and don’t even realize it.

For example,

  • Did you have a favorite teacher in high school or college?
  • How about a high school guidance counselor or academic adviser in college?
  • Have you done any volunteer work or had a part-time job?
  • Did you like your supervisors?

If you’ve answered yes to any of the above questions, then you’ve already begun developing your own personalized networking database.

Furthermore, have you also taken the time to honestly evaluate your workplace skill sets?

Are you a team player or work better as an individual contributor?  Do you take the initiative or prefer to be told what to do?

Whatever situation you find yourself in, don’t despair!

You’re not the only fish in the sea.  Remember, you do have choice, options, and opportunities!  You just need to know how to find them.

There are a multiplicity of career resources available to help you sort through your uncertainties.

Occupational HandbookAs a matter of fact, one of the best is the Occupational Outlook Handbook, a free career resource published by the United States Department of Labor’ s Bureau of Labor Statistics.

And while you’re contemplating your life plans, make sure you squeeze in some fun in between!!

Have a great year!
